Yob Reissued and Remastered Elaborations Of Carbon and a Physical Version is Coming This September

Twenty-one years have elapsed since Yob, Oregon’s premiere stoner doom band, burst forth with their debut release Elaboration of Carbon. Though they’ve grown and evolved as a band since their 2002 days, it’s important to know where a band like Yob started to see where they’ve ended up. Sadly, Elaboration of Carbon hasn’t exactly been readily available.

But all that is now in the past, as Yob announced just minutes ago that their debut release is now available on streaming platforms today. Not only has it been remastered to meet their standards in 2023, but fans that enjoy their music in vinyl format will get a chance to grab a physical copy when that hits stores this September.

Guitarist and vocalist Mike Scheidt said bringing the album back was a great way to highlight the band’s more DIY past.

“At long last, Elaborations Of Carbon is available to anyone who wants it, and on vinyl no less! It’s wild that EOC was first released over 20 years ago, counting the four-song burned CD-R version we handed out to friends before releasing the 6-song album. We were swinging for the rafters, and gave it everything we had. It’s been a blast to revisit this album and remember all of the good times we had.”

Though the streaming version of Elaborations of Carbon is available today, fans will have to wait until September 15 to get the vinyl version directly from Relapse Records. Preorders for the vinyl release are available right now.

All of this excitement is happening just days before Yob heads out on their first full U.S. tour in four years. Their first stop will be the Modified Ghost Festival this Sunday, May 21. After that, they’ll hit the road with Cave In and Pallbearer. You can find the full list of dates below.
