C.O.F.F.I.N. clearly missed the memo that modern rock bands are supposed to pace themselves. ‘Sleep In It’ arrives like a stolen muscle car crashing through a beachfront postcard, spraying sand, gasoline, and feedback in every direction. The video embraces that same reckless energy, turning the song’s relentless momentum into a visual adrenaline shot that feels impossible to ignore.
What makes the track stick long after the ringing in your ears subsides is its strange sense of balance. Ben Portnoy’s vocals snarl and scrape their way through the chaos while bright, almost sun kissed harmonies hover around the edges. It is a combination that should collapse under its own contradictions, yet somehow it only makes the song more addictive. The guitars hit with the subtlety of a wrecking ball, but the melodies are sharp enough to leave permanent marks.
The video understands exactly what kind of beast it is dealing with. Rather than smoothing out the rough edges, it leans into the band’s raw personality and lets the mayhem breathe. Every frame feels fueled by sweat, noise, and the kind of confidence that comes from knowing your riffs can do most of the talking. Plenty of bands try to manufacture this level of authenticity. C.O.F.F.I.N. makes it look embarrassingly easy.
As a first glimpse of Out In Oslo, ‘Sleep In It’ does precisely what an album teaser should do. It creates just enough destruction to make you curious about what comes next. Punk rock often talks a big game about danger and excitement. C.O.F.F.I.N. actually delivers both, wrapping them in hooks so massive they practically demand repeat plays. By the time the video ends, the only real complaint is that it is already over.
