Emily Zeck has today released her new single titled ‘Johnny Walker’ from her upcoming album ‘Broken In’, dropping November 20th. Forget your predictable country heartbreak anthems and the usual lyrical business about trucks, beer, and somebody’s ex who probably deserves a strongly worded text. Emily Zeck has a different proposition with ‘Johnny Walker’, a cinematic slice of Western storytelling that feels like someone handed a beach loving country singer a pair of dusty boots, a script full of bad decisions, and absolutely no reason to play it safe. The Florida based singer songwriter brings her signature Coastal Cowgirl sensibility into a setting where the stakes are high, the atmosphere is tense, and the imagination gets to run wild. Apparently, the Wild West needed a little saltwater in its veins.
Co written with Bonner Black and Zack Runyon, ‘Johnny Walker’ plays like a campfire story that escaped into the desert and developed a serious flair for the dramatic. Horses, rattlesnakes, ominous thunder, cracking whips, gunfire, and an angry mob populate this musical showdown, giving the song the sort of cinematic personality that makes a listener wonder why Hollywood keeps recycling the same tired plots when country music is out here doing the heavy lifting. Zeck understands that a great story needs more than a few colorful characters and a dramatic situation. It needs atmosphere, imagination, and enough tension to keep people listening instead of checking their phones every twelve seconds.
What makes the song particularly appealing is Zeck’s willingness to embrace the absurd without letting the whole thing collapse into a novelty act. Her approach to songwriting puts storytelling front and center, and ‘Johnny Walker’ gives that instinct plenty of room to breathe. The Western imagery feels like an invitation into a vivid little universe rather than a collection of props thrown together for attention. It’s a confident creative swing from an artist who clearly understands that country music doesn’t have to stay in its designated lane. Add a little cinematic ambition to that Coastal Cowgirl identity, and suddenly the genre feels a whole lot less interested in following the rules.
As the final single ahead of her debut full length album ‘Broken In’, arriving November 20, 2026, ‘Johnny Walker’ makes a persuasive case for giving Emily Zeck your attention before everyone else catches up. The record promises a broader musical world shaped by classic country, spaghetti Western scores, Southern gospel, surf culture, and pop influences, which sounds considerably more interesting than another album assembled by committee and approved by a boardroom full of people wearing expensive boots. Zeck is carving out her own space with personality, ambition, and a storyteller’s instinct for the unexpected. If ‘Broken In’ delivers on the promise of this wild Western excursion, Emily Zeck might just be the Coastal Cowgirl who rides off with the whole damn show.
“This song came to life like a good bonfire story on a camping trip in the mountains. Three friends acting out an old western thriller, one line at a time. My absolute favorite part about songwriting is telling a story so vibrant, you can nearly create an entire movie in your head as you listen to the song, I wanted the listener to feel every intense moment. I figured my chances of directing a spaghetti western film are slim, so this is truly my shot at creating a storyline that hopefully gets people as excited as I was while we were writing it.”

About Emily Zeck
Emily Zeck is a singer-songwriter and lifelong surfer whose sound, which she calls “Coastal Cowgirl,” blends classic country storytelling with the laid-back spirit of Florida’s beach culture. Raised in Vero Beach, Florida, Zeck fell for country music at 12 and was singing Gretchen Wilson covers in local dive bars before she could drive. Her neighbor Jake Owen encouraged her early on and gave her a pep talk before her first gig at 13.
After a stint in electronic pop, she returned to her country roots with the EP Coastal Cowgirl Blues (2024), which first brought her surf and country influences together on record. She followed it with the EP Loud Mouth Women (2025), whose standout single “It Ain’t Me” reached listeners across generations and drew comparisons to “Harper Valley P.T.A.” Her full-length debut, Broken In (November 20, 2026), was produced by Collin Nash.
It draws on spaghetti western scores, southern gospel, the Beach Boys and Shania Twain, and marks her arrival as a storyteller fully in her own voice. Zeck lives in Satellite Beach, Florida, where she surfs, raises her daughter and runs a beach-inspired apparel line.
