Kallohonka: ‘Psychic Surgery’ Will Mess With Your Brain Deliciously – News – Jammerzine

Kallohonka have released their new video for the track titled ‘Psychic Surgery’, from their latest album ‘Lazer Blood’, out now via Memory Terminal Records. Watching Kallohonka’s ‘Psychic Surgery’ is like staring into the abyss of someone else’s fever dream and realizing the abyss is making out with your sense of reality. The video lurches and writhes like a mutation experiment gone sideways, and you can almost smell the sticky, hallucinogenic fumes wafting off every frame. Lazer Blood, their latest album, really outdoes itself here; you can almost feel the band’s former cultist tendencies trying to crawl back into your brain while the visuals mock your concept of normal.

The cinematography feels like it was shot by a bear high on ambient noise, which might actually be appropriate given Kallohonka’s legendary ursine feasts. Every scene alternates between grotesque and mesmerizing, leaving you unsure if you are witnessing a ritual, a hallucination, or both. You expect your brain to protest, but it doesn’t. It surrenders willingly, which is probably the point.

Musically, ‘Psychic Surgery’ is a deliciously abrasive banquet of sound. The instruments claw at each other and the vocals float like disembodied spirits whispering secrets you never wanted to hear. It’s impossible to tell if you’re tapping along or convulsing involuntarily, and that ambiguity is exactly what makes it brilliant. Kallohonka doesn’t invite you to listen; it drags you into its seedy, psychedelic underworld and refuses to let go.

Dark humor pulses through the piece like an unlicensed tour guide through a haunted funhouse. You laugh because it’s ridiculous, then realize you might also be crying a little for the poor bear whose skull now resides in cosmic eternity. Watching it twice is mandatory, not just because the music is mesmerizing, but because your psyche is genuinely curious what other horrors or joys the band has hidden in the folds of its mutated minds.

At the end, you are left in a state somewhere between awe and mild existential dread. ‘Psychic Surgery’ doesn’t just play—it lingers like a shadow you can’t shake, a memory you can’t quite place, and a warning that maybe humans weren’t supposed to see this level of feral artistry. Kallohonka has crafted a video that’s as unsettling as it is intoxicating, and you will never, ever forget it.

About Kallohonka

!Behold Kallohonka! Stoned out slugs from the Dark Wood of Olde! Originally hippy Christian cult members, the quasi-discernible minds of Kallohonka were conscripted by CIA-run hallucinogenic brain mutation research programs, fracturing their individual reality tunnels. As accusations swirled of sowing the seeds of both Jonestown and the Hale-Bopp fiasco, Kallohonka fell into the stuff of legend.

Eventually escaping a dark site lab in 1997, Kallohonka became a festering hive ego composed of primordial goo. In the mid-2000s, Kallohonka returned to its roots, reforging the bear cult feasts of the elder days. While gorging on ursine flesh, they sang craven arias to the souls of the phantasmic beasts, hiding with style and aplomb, the true method of dispatch used to fell the creatures. Rising through the cacophony, a final opus to the animal’s skull rang true and beautiful as it was placed atop a century pine, casting the bear’s spirit back into the stars to be perpetually born anew. Join us in grotesque bacchanals of these feral hymns. !Behold Kallohonka!
