For the first time in five years, Evanescence is releasing a new album to the masses, titled Sanctuary. Set for release on June 5 via BMG, Sanctuary will be the band’s sixth studio album and the direct follow up to 2021’s The Bitter Truth.
To mark the occasion, the band released the album’s first official single, “Who Will You Follow”, along with an accompanying music video you can watch below. The album will release just before the band is supposed to embark on their world tour this June.
Speaking of the new album, vocalist Amy Lee said it’s good to finally be able to get the record in front of the world in a few weeks.
“This album is over three years in the making, and finally listening back to it all at once, about to release it to the world, I am so damn proud of every second of it. It’s overwhelming. Working on it has been my outlet for so much that feels wrong and out of control, and a place to ignite hope through the power of music and connection… good thing we have the tour all lined up or I wouldn’t know what to do with myself now! I’ve been completely obsessed. I’m dying for the fans to hear this.”
As for the single, it sure is an Evanescence-ass Evanescence single. Pianos, occasional heavy bits, and Amy Lee singing her ass off. You can check that out below.
