Spirit Adrift Release Standalone Single “Eternal Celestial Energy”, Next Album and Show to Be Their Last

They say all good things must come to an end and in the case of Nate Garrett‘s brainchild Spirit Adrift, that end is coming soon. Earlier today, the band released a supremely heavy standalone single titled “Eternal Celestial Energy”. If you’re a fan of slowed down, heavy, doom-laden riffs, you’re gonna enjoy the hell outta this one.

Seriously, the scream that breaks out at around the 4:51 mark? I felt that in my soul. This new track feels like it’s got something to say or is trying to be an outlet for folks that need it. Which is exactly what Garrett said in a press statement about the track.

“I can’t speak too much on this song, other than to say it’s probably the heaviest thing I’ve ever written, both sonically and emotionally. It was extremely difficult to make, but hopefully it will resonate with people who need some catharsis.”

Noting that “Eternal Celestial Energy” is a standalone single and not part of their as of yet unannounced sixth and final album, Garrett said the band has begun preparing for the band’s end.

“The sixth and final Spirit Adrift album is approaching sooner than you realize.

“We will debut two brand new, never-before-heard songs at our upcoming show with Crowbar, Eyehategod and Black Magnet on March 20. Thank you so much to all of you who made the show sell out. It will be Spirit Adrift’s final performance. We look forward to the coolest possible farewell we could imagine, in one of the most metal cities in the world!”

It’s a huge bummer to hear a band as good as Spirit Adrift is hanging it up soon. It’s even a bit of a bummer to see them hanging up the live performances in a little over a week’s time. But with their final album coming out sometime in the future, at least we have that to look forward to. After all, the music will always be there.
