Smerz Reveal New Easy EP and Song “Spring Summer”

Smerz, the Norwegian duo of Catharina Stoltenberg and Henriette Motzfeldt, are ready to unveil another batch of breathy pop songs. Easy EP is due out May 15 via Escho. Leading the six-song release is the song “Spring Summer,” which you can listen to below.

“At the tail end of finishing Big City Life last year, we made the song ‘Easy’ and from there went off on a tangent,” the duo explained in a press release. “Many of Big City Life’s songs are rooted in specific stories, this Easy EP presented itself in a more open-ended process—almost like a daily journal. It began as a snapshot of a moment, one that was about to become our spring last year, and was finished moving into spring of 2026.”

Easy EP is available to save on the duo’s Bandcamp. Among the tracklist titles are seemingly two variations on other songs on the EP, “Spring Summer 3 Beat” and “Somewhere 2,” if their names are any indication.

Smerz are currently in the midst of a tour of North America and Europe. Last year, they dropped their standout sophomore album, Big City Life. They gave the record new life in November by handing the songs over to a star-studded list of musicians—Clairo, ML Buch, Astrid Sonne, Erika de Casier, MIKE, They Are Gutting a Body of Water—to remix the music or add a guest verse. Rounding out the names on Big City Life Edits are Elias Rønnenfelt, Fousheé, Clarissa Conelly, Fine, Yrdloop, New York, Haloplus+, Molina, Toxe, and Cezinando.
