Zack Snyder Directing Remake of Escape from New York

Zack Snyder will direct a remake of the John Carpenter cult classic Escape from New York, the Hollywood Reporter reports.

The original starred Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken, and was set in a dystopian America where the island of Manhattan has been converted into a maximum security prison. Details are scarce, including on who gets to wear the eye patch this time around. But Snyder has done some of his best work on remakes; in fact, his highest-rated movie on Rotten Tomatoes is his 2004 debut, Dawn of the Dead.
