New York Hip Hop Artist Bally540 ‘Can’t Lose’

Out of Troy, New York, Bally540 first saw basketball as his future, but upon leaving high school he decided to take a more serious approach to his music, and new single, ‘Can’t Lose’ brings with it that same determination he had with his sport.

‘Can’t Lose’ is a record that’s fully committed to Bally540’s point of view. Recorded back in January, during a session for his album, ‘Pursuit Of Happiness: Amir‘, it was completed in one take, and the immediate reaction to it suggested that it was worthy of being more than just an ordinary album cut. Initially released as the project’s second single, the positive response to it saw it quickly moved to the centre of the campaign.

With heavy 808s and swift cadence changes, Bally540 raps through money, loyalty, danger, and survival, while never once separating the rewards from that pressure that impels them. He raps, “Streets moving in a false direction but me ima always stay true”, and each time he returns to “I can’t lose”, it feels like a self-command to forward motion, rather than a celebration.

The music video for ‘I Can’t Lose’ sees Bally540 rapping alongside his crew, in a brightly lit studio, as selected lyrics flash past on the screen. The overall effect is a raw, performance-driven piece, which matches the directness of the single itself.
