South Wales four-piece The Now have released their sixth single from forthcoming album ‘Moments in Motion’, with ‘Did You Miss Me?’.
Built around an eighties-tinged production that pairs vintage guitar tones with glossy synth work, where the group’s 2024 debut ‘Too Hot To Handle’ stuck closely to a classic rock blueprint, quiet verses, loud choruses, guitar solos, ‘Did You Miss Me?’ shows a band drawing from a wider set of influences, with the album as a whole reportedly taking cues from Michael Jackson, Prince and ABBA alongside the band’s existing guitar-driven sound.
Frontman Shane Callaghan takes vocal centre stage on a song about the uncertainty of new attraction, the nerves and anticipation of not knowing exactly where things stand with someone. ‘Did You Miss Me?’ follows five earlier singles from the album, ‘Wild Curse’, ‘Breathe’, ‘Something Beautiful’, ‘Infection’, and ‘Drug’, which collectively suggest a record spanning romance, loss, identity and self-discovery, delivered with an increasingly dance-oriented sound.
The single’s release caps off a strong run for the band, who spent the summer playing festivals and picked up a support slot with Madness in Canterbury, sharing a bill with Cast, The Beat and The Ordinary Boys.
