BMI Foundation Announces Inaugural  BMI Babyface Award: Music of the African Diaspora

The BMI Foundation announces the inaugural BMI Babyface Award . It’s an award for songwriters and composers of R&B, Hip-Hop, Soul and to her music of the African Diaspora.

The BMI Foundation is honored to be partnering with one of the most celebrated creative forces in music history, 13-time Grammy Award-winning recording recording artist, siner-songwriter, and producer Babyface to launch this new competitive program.

According to official release, The Babyface Award was founded in 2026 with a $25,000 investment from Wells Fargo. The program is co-directed by BMI Executive Director, Creative, Atlanta Byron Wright and songwriter, producer and performer Will Wells.

Winners of the award will receive artistic and business mentorship and a $10,000 career gratn.

Applications are open now through June 30th, to all United States residents and territories ages 18-29. Interested artists can apply at BMIFOUNDATION.ORG.

Applicants can only submit one application per year to the Babyface Award, and may not submit the same musical work to the Award and another BMI Foundation awards program. Applicants may only submit music that have not been assigned to a major music publisher or major record label, or commercially published or distributed.
