Laufeyhas shared a video for her new song ‘Madwoman’,complete with an all-star castincludingKATSEYE’s MeganSkiendiel– watch below.
The song is taken from the new deluxe edition of the Los Angeles-based,Icelandic-Chineseartist’s latest album ‘A MatterOfTime’,which includes four new tracks and is available on streaming services and physical formats now.
The new ‘Madwoman’ video stars a range of Asian and Asian-American talent, including Skiendiel, the Heated Rivalrystar Hudson Williams, Lola Tung fromThe Summer I Turned Prettyandthe US Olympic gold medal figureskating champion Alysa Liu.
Directed by Warren Fu (Dua Lipa,The1975,Daft Punk), the video pinpricks the idea that the picture-perfect celebrity world is all that it seems. It was filmed in Los Angeles just weeks before Laufey’s Coachella debut and you can check it out here:
Laufey has said: “Growing up, I felt a general lack of representation for people who looked like me in music and media. With the ‘Madwoman’ video, I wanted to be that representation. The result is what honestly feels like my absolute dream video and exactly what younger Laufey would have loved to see.”

NMEalso spoke to Laufey about the making of the album. “There are parts of me that come out in this album that I didn’t dare to put out in the last few,” she said. “The way thealbum’ssequenced is it starts with this hope and a little bit of fear of love –it’sa first date. And then as the album progresses, it fallsmore and moreintoanxiety, andfalls apart.”
