What To Know
- 9-1-1: Nashville Season 2 will be bringing in a new boss for Cammie.
- Kimberly Williams-Paisley discusses that as well as Cammie’s reaction to the Blythe and Dixie finale-ending fight.
The moment that everyone’s talking about between seasons of9-1-1: Nashville is, of course, the Season 1 finale-ending fight between Blythe (Jessica Capshaw) and Dixie (LeAnn Rimes) after the former found out her husband Don (Chris O’Donnell) considered sleeping with the latter, his ex-girlfriend, as part of a messy, messy deal involving the singer’s diss tracks. As Blythe’s sister-in-law, Kimberly Williams-Paisley‘s Cammie has a front row seat to all of that drama.
“She sees Blythe becoming completely unhinged, and she knows that’s not going to go anywhere good, and you can see that it doesn’t,” Williams-Paisley told TV Insider in May after the finale. She added that her character would be “completely” surprised by what that fight became, noting, “We don’t know where that’s going to end up.”
When we spoke with showrunner Rashad Raisani about the finale, he told us, “The fight actually went on much longer in the way we shot it, but I just thought it was more shocking and compelling to just cut it off at a moment of explosion and not play it all the way through this sort of big, choreographed fight. What I can say is that we will pay it off in Season 2, but we may make the audience wonder a little bit for a while about exactly what happened, how injured everybody was, and what happened after. So, we’ll do a very small time jump in Season 2, but allow people to kind of wonder and then answer the question about what happened.”
Looking ahead to9-1-1: Nashville Season 2, Raisani also told us that he plans to bring in “a new boss from hell” for Cammie at the dispatch center — a recurring character who “may be somebody who joins who’s got some very twisted and dark secrets themselves that will unfold as the season goes on” — and continue to build out that world. Williams-Paisley is excited about the latter, noting, “It can get kind of lonely in there.” However, she also doesn’t think that Cammie will “like” this new boss very much.
As for what Cammie needs and wants in a boss, she “wants someone to let her handle it the way she knows it needs to be handled. Someone with respect and compassion,” Williams-Paisley shared. “I don’t think she has a problem with authority, but I think she knows what she’s doing. She doesn’t need someone to tell her what to do.”
Looking ahead, the star wants “more action, more drama” in Season 2. She added, “I also really love the heartfelt stories. I love when we really get to know these characters well, so I hope for more of that.”
