NBC Fall Schedule Takes Big Swings as The Traitors Replaces Law & Order and The Hunting Party Vanishes

NBC is the second broadcast network to confirm its plans for the 2026-27 season, and there are some big swings.

Peter Krause drama Line of Fire has landed the plum post-The Voice timeslot on Mondays.

Krause recently wrapped his run on 9-1-1, so there is undoubtedly a lot of excitement from his fanbase for his next project.

Speaking of The Voice, the singing competition series is about to celebrate its 30th season on the air, and there are some surprises in store.

The series has shown its age in the ratings in recent years, but a well-promoted milestone chapter is sure to get people talking about the show again.

The Voice will air for two hours on Mondays in September and October, before scaling back to one-hour episodes, allowing St. Denis Medical and The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins to return to the schedule.

Tuesdays will be all NBA on NBC, which isn’t too surprising. The broadcast networks have been experimenting with more sport-related content.

They perform better than most scripted offerings, so it’s a no-brainer.

Wednesdays will remain unchanged, with Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD locked and loaded for another season.

The Traitors Takes Over for Law & Order

The big change is the civilian iteration of The Traitors landing the Thursdays at 8 p.m. slot.

The Traitors has been a mammoth success on Peacock, and there’s every reason to believe that this new take on the format will perform.

But it has taken the original Law & Order‘s timeslot. Thankfully for fans, the series has been renewed but it has been banished to the 10 p.m. slot.

There were some questions about its future considering it missed out on an early renewal, but a deal was reached last minute to keep it alive.

Fellow Thursday drama, The Hunting Party has not been renewed or canceled, suggesting that talks are still ongoing to bring it back.

The Hunting Party Season 2 has had a soft on-air performance, but has broken out on Netflix, indicating that there could be a bigger audience.

NBC previously canceled Brilliant Minds and Stumble, but the lack of renewal is actually good news for The Hunting Party.

It means it still has a chance and could be a part of the network’s midseason schedule.

Friday evenings will consist of Happy’s Place, Newlyweds, and Dateline NBC.

The network seems intent on keeping comedy series alive, which is good for fans of those formats.

In somewhat surprising news, The Rockford Files didn’t make the cut for the fall season.

It’s not uncommon for shows to be held until midseason, but it genuinely seemed like NBC would put all of its eggs in one basket for the highly anticipated series.

Also on the midseason roster are Destination X, Sunset PI, and Wordle.
