“I’ve always loved a great story song, and ‘Built On Her’ is one I’m especially proud of,” says Reece. “It’s dark, emotional, and leaves a lot to think about. I’m excited to hear what people take away from the story and how they connect with it.”
At the center of the song is a man whose growing fortune is connected to a piece of land hiding a terrible secret. As the property becomes increasingly valuable, walking away becomes harder—but so does living with what lies beneath it.
The result plays almost like a Southern crime thriller set to music.
Reece captures that conflict in the song’s haunting chorus, where the narrator admits that everything he has built is tied to the secret underneath him:
