From Delco With Malice: Problem Addict’s ‘Live From The Emergency Room’ – The Test Drive (Early Album Previews) – Jammerzine

Problem Addict have today premiered their new album titled ‘Live From The Emergency Room’, dropping tomorrow. The world hardly needs another band promising chaos, destruction, and general social decay. Fortunately, Problem Addict arrives with something far more valuable: actual songs. Based on opener ‘At The Railroad Tracks,’ which serves as a reliable snapshot of the album’s sound, ‘Live From The Emergency Room’ barrels forward with the subtlety of a shopping cart full of fireworks. The track is loud, grimy, and proudly unrefined, yet beneath the racket lurks an instinct for melody that keeps the whole thing from collapsing into noise for noise’s sake.

That balance is what makes this project work. Featuring Philadelphia punk lifers Al Denté, Hunny, Icky Radneck, and Edley ODowd of Psychic TV, Scorpion Tea, and Toilet Boys fame, Problem Addict sounds like a group that understands exactly how ugly they want to be. The guitars scrape and grind, the rhythm section stomps around like it is looking for trouble, and ODowd’s contributions add an extra layer of mutant weirdness. Somehow the resulting mess feels remarkably focused. Every ugly sound appears to have been placed there with care.

The album’s title suggests discomfort, and the band’s sense of humor leans heavily into that concept. Denté’s claim that the record was essentially designed to recreate the anxiety of both an emergency room visit and a Problem Addict show feels less like a joke and more like a mission statement. Even without hearing every track, song titles such as ‘Back In Jail…Again,’ ‘Timmy Is A Monster,’ ‘Frog Guy,’ and ‘It’s A Joke’ point toward a world populated by lovable disasters, chronic screwups, and people who have learned to laugh while everything burns around them.

What stands out most on ‘At The Railroad Tracks’ is how naturally the band fuses old school pop instincts with punk rock abrasion. Plenty of groups claim to write hooks hidden inside walls of distortion. Problem Addict actually does it. The song lands punches with brute force but never forgets to leave behind a memorable chorus. It is the sound of musicians who have spent decades absorbing underground culture and have finally decided to throw all their favorite bad decisions into one gloriously dysfunctional package.

‘Live From The Emergency Room’ feels destined to become a cult favorite among fans who prefer their rock music loud, sarcastic, and covered in questionable stains. The limited vinyl edition practically dares collectors to grab a copy before word spreads. If the rest of the album matches the energy, wit, and damaged charm of its opening track, Problem Addict may have accomplished something impressive: turning personal wreckage, social frustration, and glorious trash culture into one of the most entertaining punk records of the year.

The album will be released June 25, 2026 as a limited edition of 100 vinyl LPs with numbered, hand printed jackets as well as digitally. Pre-order from now on HERE.

“The decision was made to record our album live from an emergency room to closely mimic the uncomfortable and often painful ordeal of coming to one of our shows. We took great lengths to capture as much anxiety and dread as possible for our listeners, so they can feel like they are in the room with us. Now everyone can experience the American Healthcare System from the comfort of their home! GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
Al Denté

“Last year I got a call from this guy Al who wanted me to bring my particular brand of weird to his new band Problem Addict. Their music tickled a spot in my brain so much that I didn’t even notice they had convinced me to wear scary costumes and call myself “The Problem”. The things I put up with for the sake of rock and roll! “Live From The Emergency Room”, for me, is the culmination of the last year playing with this group of Delco misfits making some of the ugliest sounds I’ve ever heard!”
Edley ODowd

About Problem Addict & ‘Live From The Emergency Room’

Emerging from the muck of an uncaring world, these derelicts became bound by a single purpose: to exact auditory revenge on the worthless society that spit them out.

Now they will stop at nothing to unleash their brand of sonic destruction on the masses and take their place at the top of the trash heap. They are the problem you want to see in the world. They are Problem Addict. “Many of the songs on Live From The Emergency Room are somewhat autobiographical notes” – reflects singer/guitarist Al Denté. “Songs like “Back In Jail” and I’m On The Couch are real stories that I’ve lived myself. Writing songs is how I exorcise all the negative feelings of growing up rough”.

Behind the noise are Philadelphia punk rock legends Al Denté on vocals and guitar, alongside Hunny on drums and backing vocals, Icky Radneck on bass and “The Problem” (Edley ODowd of Psychic TV, Toilet Boys and Scorpion Tea) on percussion and samples. “Problem Addicts’ music is the culmination of our collective negative feelings about the current state of the world” – notes Edley ODowd. “We take it all and put in a blender with a generous helping of humor as a way to cope”.

Problem Addict produces a blistering, guttural sound that has one foot firmly planted in ’60s pop and the other in overdriven punk rock. The resulting sound is equal parts alarming and enticing, packed with unforgettable earworm hooks and sing-along lyrics.

The band has spent the last year slaying audiences across the Tri-State area, spreading their absurd musical onslaught with a generous helping of humor. With 4 self-released EPs under their belt, Problem Addict recently recorded a live presentation of all their terrible hits called “Live From The Emergency Room”.
