Experience Understandably Part Ways with Brady Ebert

The saga of this motherfucker is teetering on Netflix series level-drama. Brady Ebert’s dumbass has, as a surprise to no one, seemingly been kicked out of one of the new bands he started after being kicked out of Turnstile.

Why? Well, if that rock you happen to live under doesn’t have internet, Ebert tried to mow down William Yates, the father of Brandan Yates, his former Turnstile bandmate, with a motor vehicle. He claims it was self-defense (how, my guy? Old boy is 79 years old), but he’s been arrested and charged with attempted second degree murder and first degree assault, so, of course he won’t be able to jam with the rest of Experience as they gear up to release their debut EP (which for whatever reason they’re still choosing to go forward with).

Experience made the announcement in a post that said:

“We want to follow up on our last post because we know it left some questions. There’s a difference between acknowledging what Brady meant to us and excusing what happened. What he did is fucked up. Plain and simple.

“This situation has been heavy and hard to process. We’ve been struggling to even find the words for it. We spent months building this record together, putting everything into it, and then one decision changed everything.

“Brady is no longer a member of this band.

“We also want to be clear that we didn’t want to make any public statement about that without him knowing first. Right now, he isn’t allowed visitors or phone calls, so we haven’t been able to have that conversation.

“At the center of all of this are real people dealing with real trauma, especially the Yates family. That’s what matters most.

“Our connection with Brady was rooted in trying to support growth and mental health, which makes this even harder to sit with.

“We’re still processing all of this. We’re trying to move forward in a way that’s honest and doesn’t pretend any of this is okay.”

I get not letting the ship go down because of one sailor, but maybe y’all should change your name or something before just pretending like the band isn’t even slightly tarnished by the association? Ebert seems to CLEARLY be dealing with some mental health issues, and that ISN’T his fault, but I kind of think of it like cooking. Can you still enjoy the dish knowing one of the ingredients was rotten as hell?

The Yates family is soldiering on, though. Turnstile played Coachella the other night, with an introduction by Papa Yates himself and a dedication to the late Bo Lueders. Papa said:

“I’m Bill Yates, I’m the proud father of Brendan. They’re all sons of mine. They’ve been practicing in the house for about 13 years now, just recently they grew too big for the basement. And finally now, after a dozen years, practically, they’re at a point where the larger the venue the better, because they just enjoy the energy. To all the fans out there, we love you and Turnstile loves you, enjoy the ride.”

So many emotions! So much to process! Take care of yourselves and your mental health, y’all.
