Peter Eidlers Single, Wherever You Go, Is A Reflection On Friendship And Distance

Released on the 25th of June, ‘Wherever You Go’, by Peter Eidler, was born out of the real life experience of seeing his best friend leave the city the pair had bonded in together, in order to return to life in the suburbs.

‘Wherever You Go’ is available to stream and download here.

The song follows the story of the two people, who, although from different backgrounds, found friendship while trying to make life work in the city, until one decides to move back to the suburbs he was originally from. While the song could have dwelled on the sadness felt because of the distance now between them, Peter instead focuses on celebrating their loyalty as friends, and examines how that friendship can continue, despite the direction each of them may take in life. While the song’s city to suburbs theme is at its centre, the premise can be easily adapted to many different life situations, where circumstances separate friends – be it romantic relationships, careers, travel, and so on.

A contemporary pop song, with its strummed guitars, jangly keys, warm synths and drums giving it an indie-pop vibe, Eider’s vocals are earnest and heartfelt, with his delivery reflecting the lyrics and emotion of the song.

Taking approximately two months to complete, ‘Wherever You Go’ started out as a rough demo recorded using Ableton in Peter’s bedroom studio, before he properly recorded it at The Penthouse Studio, in New York City. There producer Rishi Krishnan mixed it, before sending it on to Tim Boyce at The Sound Design Studio for mastering.

Peter Eidler, originally from the Bay Area outside San Francisco, started writing songs with his friends throughout high school and college. Further experimentation with Ableton saw his skills and ambitions grow, and he used his background in musical theatre to imbue his music with the pop sound he had hoped to make.
