Well, that escalated quickly. And by “that,” I mean everything.

Margo’s Got Money Troubles Episode 4, “Buddies,” really strengthened some relationships and forged some very interesting new ones.

At the heart of it all is Margo and Jinx getting to know each other. But I can’t help but be distracted by Nicole Kidman‘s incredibly eye-catching entrance. What role will former-wrestler-now-lawyer Lace play in Margo’s life?

Margo’s Got Money Trouble, “Buddies”

If we learned anything about Margo in the Margo’s Got Money Troubles series premiere event, we learned that it was a definitive Margo move to invite Jinx to move in on the strength of his being her dad and in need of a place that wouldn’t trigger a relapse.

As Shyanne rightfully (if a little scornfully) points out, they really know nothing about each other. Of course, a lot of Shyanne’s ire is wrapped up in her insecurities as a mother and grandmother.

Michelle Pfeiffer is such a queen of the honest moment. Ironic because Shyanne is a study in deliberate masking. Here, she goes from whining that Jinx never gave her parenting tips to sharing a beautiful moment with Kenny.

“You’re like a new car, Kenny. When people buy automobiles, more times than not, they’re buying the narrative. The driving it. Being seen driving in it. The way the car makes them feel. I like how I feel when I’m with you. Being seen with you and I even like me with you. That’s awesome because I don’t always like myself.” — Shyanne

Watching Margo craft an OnlyFans persona mirrors how hard Shyanne works to shape herself into someone worthy of being Mrs. Kenny.

Making Friends and Taking Names

Every new business venture has its growing pains.

After the initial flurry of Pokémon penis tips (oh, there’s gotta be a better way to phrase that!), Margo’s driven to up her exposure and build her OnlyFans following, setting her sights on the climes of WangMangler99’s success.

It’s fascinating to consider the thought and innovation that has to go into marketing OnlyFans content.

Margo’s already realized that there’s a secret sauce to go from dabbling in tips (again, the phrasing is awkward) to making a living that will feed her Hungry Ghost.

In going straight to the source by lurking WangMangler99 until she gets an angry invite, she demonstrates both her determination and naiveté.

I think my favorite aspect of this entire situation is how Margo approaches this pivot as a writing exercise.

Her Pokémon penis assessments start out short and basic, but as she embraces (?) her subject matter, the passages grow in detail.

By the time she gets a face-to-face with Rose and KC, she’s ready to market her skills as “world-transforming.”

Daddy Dearest

I’ve got a lot of love for bespectacled roommates with niche hobbies, so Susie’s 100% my kind of sidekick.

Totally non-judgmental and supportive of every endeavor, she’s definitely Margo’s guardian angel.

She’s also an emotional paternal leapfrog link to Jinx for Margo. Before her wrestling hero landed on their doorstep, she’d already imprinted on him.

So Jinx really moves in with two daughter-esque types. Susie’s enraptured by his public wrestler persona, while Margo only has a very basic understanding of him as a person.

While we haven’t seen him interact much with Susie (yet!), he leans in quickly to address Shyanne’s critique of his relationship with Margo by inviting her to come with him to a fan convention.

Margo’s understandably reluctant. Mind you, considering her newest career direction, she’d be wise to pay attention to the fanbase her father’s built.

And of course, it’s the fan convention that reintroduces Lace into her life.

Now, what do you suppose she, a newly NDA-confined single mother, could do with a lawyer with a close connection to her dad and who might be feeling bad about reinjuring his back in the exhibition ring?

Jinx’s first foray into fatherly advice lands poorly, to put it mildly.

I mean, he was probably in a semi-state of shock after walking into her photo session with Susie. That was a lot of screaming. How did it not wake Bodhi up?

Top marks for being open to her being in an intimate relationship with Susie. Minus several points for jumping straight to judgmental boor over the OnlyFans thing. (Gold star for shaking Mark Gable’s hand to bits.)

I think part of Margo’s outrage at his OnlyFans reaction — but only part of it, mind you — was that he was the one to put the suggestion in her head to begin with.

When he mentioned his former wrestling colleague, Arabella, had an OnlyFans following on Margo’s Got Money Troubles Episode 3, he actually defends the site when Margo describes it as amateur porn.

And then he tells Margo that Arabella made more in a month on OnlyFans than she’d make in an entire year of wrestling. What did he think would happen?

To be sure, one is never sure how Margo’s mind will spin a piece of information. That’s part and parcel of why watching her story unfold is so intriguing. Her choices have yet to conform to any traditional sense of problem-solving.

Where does all this honesty lead next, Fanatics?

Will OnlyFans feed Margo’s Hungry Ghost? Can she change the world for WangMangler99?

Are you looking forward to Lace’s lawyerly persona because I really am, could you tell?

Hit our comments below with your best guess on next steps for Shyanne’s wedding plans, Jinx’s recovery… and maybe Professor Gable’s hand’s recovery too.

What a weenie.
