The 2026 Emmy Awards are underway and getting emotional with the acceptance speeches, particularly with the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
Tom Pelphrey took the win for his performance inTask, HBO‘s crime drama co-starring Mark Ruffalo, and it was Pelphrey’s real-life partner, Kaley Cuoco, who couldn’t hold her tears back as he took to the stage. The formerBig Bang Theorystar was sitting in the audience as Pelphrey got up to the mic to deliver his speech.
Pelphrey started off by acknowledging his sobriety and recognizing the creatives and performers involved in Task, which will return for Season 2 (sans Pelphrey, whose character Robbie Prendergast died before Season 1 ended). He then went on to call out Cuoco and their family, which includes daughter Matilda and a new baby girl on the way.
“My best friend, my partner, the very pregnant Kaley Cuoco, I love you more than anything, and our family is the crown jewel of my life,” Pelphrey mused, as Cuoco’s eyes filled with tears.

The emotions were palpable, making it one of the most memorable acceptance speeches of the night so far. Pelphrey’s win was somewhat of an exciting surprise as he beat out several ofThe Pitt‘s favorites, including Patrick Ball, Shawn Hatosy, and Gerran Howell. The Morning Show‘s Billy Crudup,Slow Horses‘s Jack Lowden, and Pluribus‘s Carlos-Manuel Vesga were also among the nominees in Pelphrey’s category.
This was Pelphrey’s first Emmy nomination in a major category; he was previously nominated for his role in Ozark in a guest acting category.
